Moorhen Chick

A rather late (possibly second hatching) Moorhen chick.

No sign of the young Heron today. I am starting to think she has moved on to one of the larger lochs in the area. I have no doubt she will return if she needs a meal but I think it may be getting close to the time for me to move on if she stays on an irregular pattern. 

I have been buying fresh fish recently as I only get 2 days once the frozen has thawed. The fresh gives me 5 days if I leave it sealed and use a freezer bag to take it with me (I can use the fish myself just before the sell by date). However I can only keep that up for a short while and have decided to give it a week. After that I will probably stay away from the loch for a while.
