Retirement muffin flower

Today at lunchtime we had a retirement do for a colleague. On the buffet were some yummy muffins, and when I'd nearly finished mine I noticed it looked like a strange flower on my plate. The photo came out slightly blurred (I think I might have had the digital zoom on and forgotten), so I tried running it through a sharpen filter: doesn't look any sharper but I like the odd leathery texture that it's given the "petals". It's the best thing I've taken today, a day which has been cold, damp and miserable, with most variants on the theme of snow/rain/sleet/hail.
