Just daft!

Is this just the hight laziness or cutbacks gone mad? OK you dig up the road and ruin a knackerd road marking that you can just about make out. So when the road is fixed you then just repaint the bit that's missing. Call me old fashioned but logic would dictate you repainted the whole sign? But hey what do I know! But having spent quite a few years as a typographer this just winds me up every time I pass it.
