Lightning above...

...but peace on the ground!

This photo of lightning illuminating the Knysna lagoon was taken during the last couple of hours of voting in South Africa's fourth democratic election.

Although there were long lines at some polling booths the day was both calm and filled with a quiet excitement as South Africans streamed to the polls and then compared ink-stained thumbs!
