Don't Talk With Your Mouth Full

Stellar's Jays can be extremely noisy and this one was no exception!  He was squawking before I threw him a handful of peanuts and he only quit after he got one and flew off.  I keep trying to bait the crows in for peanuts but they always seem to defer to the jays which I don't understand.  The crows approach the peanuts very cautiously and back off if a jay shows up which happens all the time.  I'm sure there's good bird logic in that behavior but I'm destined to remain curious since they won't tell me what's going on.
