Bird behavior

Took this photo by Pond Cove on my way home. I had walked to and around Fort Williams at the height of the day, to clear my head. Which it did. The tide wasn't high or low, the sky wasn't entirely blue or gray, everything was sort of even and in-between. Which way will it go?
