Viaduc de Garabit
We awoke to a sunny, spring morning of blue skies and white cloud. The day grew warmer and brighter as we drove across the Livradois-Forez, crossed the Allier at Langeac and headed up into the Margeride.
On entering the Cantal, the high ground was still covered in snow (although the roads were clear - and in excellent condition!). But it was back to the warmth and the blue skies as we headed down the narrow stretch of the D13 below Ruynes-en-Margeride to this dramatic viewpoint right underneath the northern abutments of Gustave Eiffel's spectacular Viaduc de Garabit over the valley of the Truyère in France's Massif Central.
