Old Man of Hoy

Poking up in the background through the cloud, the old Man of Hoy, on the island of Hoy, viewed from Marwick Head on Orkney mainland (also an island!)

As a kid I spent my summers at my grandparents home at Brimms Ness on the mainland, literally a fields length from the Pentland Firth.

Hoy, and The Old Man of Hoy (which is a somewhat famous sea stack) we’re clearly visible from their house and garden.
