Conwy Valley

Today we decide to change our usual afternoon outing to a morning stroll through the reserve, the circular route returning  along  the banks of the River Conwy.  Generally, I prefer this view when the tide is out and the mudflats are exposed; the scene’s more interesting somehow - and of course there’s much more activity from waders fishing in the shallows. 

Today, however, the weather’s glorious, the completely still air allowing the river to form a near-perfect mirror to the blue sky and its fluffy cottonwool clouds. At the edge of the tidal islands swans swim, cormorants sun their wings and gulls quarrel - as they always do. The curlews are still there, heads up today, some wandering away from the group and feeding in the drainage streams.

And in the distance Snowdonia’s peaks almost melt into the haze, Siabod’s. hunchback form just visible. 

And so today it’s a brief respite from bees and flowers and dragonflies - but thank you so much for the stars and hearts and lovely comments that met yesterday’s Common Darter blip.
