Lunchtime visitor
The weather cleared today, the wind dropped, and we had lunch on the balcony. A magpie visited, one of a pair which has a nest in the Norfolk Island Pine across the road. I've only been blipping for eight months, but am surprised this is the first time I've put up a magpie photo. They seem to be an ever-present part of life here. One of my bird books says, about the Australian Magpie call, that 'the beautiful carolling of this familiar bird - heard particularly at dawn and dusk - is one of the most nostalgically evocative of all Australian sounds'. This YouTube clip is an example.
