Sometimes life isn't all about databases???

I had two 1 hour walks this morning. The first was at 7am and I went to the park in the mist and the rain. The second was a run about on Porty Beach with my ball at 11am in the mist and the rain.

This afternoon I had snooze time in my bed and Ann went off to do a 'Meet & Greet'. She knew her M&G wouldn't be happening because her Google newsfeed from 7am this morning kept popping up with messages to say there was a HUGE fire on George 1V Bridge. Traffic was being diverted and George 1V Bridge and Candlemaker Row (where Ann was doing her M&G) were closed.

However, Ann didn't hear a thing from her HQ so she allowed herself an extra 15 mins (to walk) cos she's very conscientious knew the buses had all been diverted and she could get no where near the flat she was 'meet & greeting' at.

Got to the bottom of the street which was all cordoned off (which she knew it would be), chatted up two very lovely Policeman to find out what was happening and they said nobody was allowed in the area. TBH the smoke was still billowing out of the 'Oz Bar' (across the road from where Ann was M&G-ing) so it was obvious no one was going to be allowed in the cordoned off area for a very long time.

Soooooooo........................ Ann 'WhatsApped' her bosses in Malaysia. Yes Malaysia??? Everything is done via 'whatsapp' and databases and told them there had been a massive fire and she couldn't access the property. They replied and said the cleaners hadn't been able to get in but they'd thought it was just a little fire??? Seriously??? They must have been there at least 2 hours before Ann??

And TBH – If the cleaners had reported properly back to HQ in Malaysia, they could have told Ann not to bother going to do her 'M&G' because they must have known she couldn't get into the property and the visitors would have to be re-located.


As it it.....................  Ann is still expecting to be paid because she turned up.

All this 'GIG ECOMONY' working is just MAD!!!

Ann LOVES her job cos she can pick and choose when she works and what she does. But seriously???...................... The cleaners had obviously realised there was a problem a couple of hours before Ann arrived and if they'd relayed the problem properly to the 'powers that be' in Malaysia maybe they could have told Ann not to bother coming out to do her M&G. But...........If she comes out to do her M&G she will expect to get paid for it. Mmmmmm.................... And I bet they haven't even told the owner yet that the visitors coming to stay in his flat for 12 days have been relocated???


Oh well, hey ho, I got an extra walk when Ann came home and then we sat on the balcony for a couple of hours.


Still feel a bit bad for the visitors that Ann should have been 'meeting & greeting' though??!!


Oh well, happy days.  Loved my play on Porty Beach this morning.
