Great Dodd
Other family members were off in different places today so I made the most of having a day to hit another fell. I was limited by the fact that I don’t have a car and was a bit nervous to do Hellvellyn on my own, so I cycled down to the Dodds.
A long, slow climb but worth it for the views from the top, both Derwent Water and Thirlmere visible from the top. A windy, squelchy trek down. Not the most spectacular walk but nice to have a bumble around.
Cycled down to Dockray for a pint in the sunshine then thought I might as well go the last mile or so down to Ullswater. I could tell from the lovely descent that it was going to be a killer of a climb back up. Worth it to scout out Ullswater as somewhere to bring the kayak.
A very slow and very sweaty cycle back to camp. A great day!
