Autumn is Coming

Wetland Bird Survey today. Surprisingly it was busier than we’d expected with Herons, Geese, Cormorants and Great-crested Grebe. This splendid fungus caught my eye. I’d hoped for more as I will be leading a fungus walk in about 3 weeks.
My first reaction was that it was Chicken of the Woods but it was on beech rather than Oak, but when I checked the book, it seems it can grow on a few different types of tree.
