Serendipity

It was at this point that I met my old head, his wife and their new dog from my teaching days.  It was a chance 10-minute window and great to have a few moments catching up. Rich was hot on my tail with his buddy so I didn't hang around (and managed to avoid being overtaken - quite funny watching the flyby on Strava!)

We then went to a funeral with 23 people we didn’t know. Rich spotted someone he thought he used to work with a few years ago.  Sure enough, we had chance to talk at the end and it was indeed her, with a strong connection to the same couple we've been buddying during Covid.  Another serendipitous moment which radiated a cheery glimmer on a sad afternoon.
