Derelict Sunday

I've chosen this disused telegraph pole for this week's DS challenge. I don't quite know why it's been left like this. It used to serve the main block of the local high school where our lads all went for their secondary education, but a few years ago a new building was built on what was the school field then the old building was demolished and that area became the field. But why they didn't remove the pole when they demolished the old building, I've no idea!
