Blackwater River

This meandering little river flows northward and cascades over the Blackwater River Falls and flows into the Cheat River, then the Monongahela River which joins with the Allegheny River to become the Ohio River which flows another 1000 miles to the Mississippi.  Over time, this river has cut a very scenic gorge. (see future blips)

We took a hike along this river today and I was surprised to already see a hint of autumn in the trees.  Because the eco-system in this valley is like southern Ontario, foliage season comes in very early October.  I have added another shot of a brilliant red tree that we encountered along the hike.
