The B709

Day 2. Started dry but after our picnic lunch was very wet.  

We left Innerleithen and headed up the stunning B709. Breathingly beautiful and so quiet.  All the climbs - 7 category climbs,  were easy today.  Picnic lunch by the Gladhouse reservoir after which the rain started. We had a mad dash along a busy A road then we dived into an unexpected cafe who didn't mind us dripping rain water everywhere.  I could feel my feet squelching in my cycle shoes! After tea we carried on our merry way. The rain didn't dampen our mood or spoil our ride. Last atop was Pebbles which was a lovely little town then on the disused railway path home.

This evening we went to friends for dinner. A lovely evening chatting, drinking and eating. The drive home in the lurch dark, rain and lots of standing water was quite an experience, but we are home safely. Another fab day
