Saturdays

I was back at work today in the Office (still on my own).

It was busier than it has been for a while (incoming emails - the Office is still closed).

My new cases involved the usual array of the selfish and stupid, with several away down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theories about vaccines. They also include a few intelligent and articulate people, concerned about the welfare of children in our schools. They would be at the top of my list, but we have not yet been told what to say to them. “Eff off”, probably.

It rained most of the day, so going walkabout after lunch was off the agenda.

I did have a couple of very enjoyable discussions with people I met when out buying lunch. I love hearing about other people’s pandemic experiences as long as they do no not expect me to solve all the problems for them. I wish my willingness to listen and empathise could be matched by our ability to change things.

After work I watched Junior play ice hockey in Ayr on a live stream via Facebook. Glasgow v Edinburgh. The rinks in both cities are still closed. It was his first game since March 2020, with only a handful of training sessions over the last month or two.

Then I made soup. Courgettes from the greenhouse had to be used. I had lots of basil in the fridge. Add an onion and some garlic… et voilà.
