High Penn (Thursday 19th August 2021)
As it was World Photography Day I thought I ought to venture forth with a couple of cameras, so I set off without a clear destination in mind but soon found myself parked at the top of High Penn, next to a complex called Sauviers that included a field of sheep and lambs. I took a number of shots and was most pleased with this blip.
I didn't consider the mission accomplished though and continued a walk that lasted one and a half hours and took in a small lake in the High Penn nature reserve, struggling through tall brambly undergrowth on the wrong side of the Quag, looking for a mythical path through the woods that would return me to the path to the car. I made it eventually back to Archie by a circuitous and exhausting route before the torrential downpour that began on the drive back.
Today I woke up covered in insect bites. Among the shots I took was a shrub covered in berries, close to the small lake.
