We had a fabulous (exhausting but fabulous) afternoon today! We travelled to Manchester - which was a bit of a nightmare journey - but at the end of the long drive was fun times. Katie was a bit overwhelmed by the busy city centre, we haven't done a city since before first lockdown, besides the edge of Leeds for ballet. Anyway, we enjoyed a few minutes in Irregular Choice, Hotel Chocolat and Lush before meeting Janet and the Avenell crew at Wagamamas. It was rather lovely when N and K unexpectedly also joined us before their rehearsal.
The point of our trip was to support Nia, Katy and our friends son Alex in their closing performance of NYMTs production of Hunchback. Staged in the cathedral, with a full orchestra, the organ, a cast of 100, it was absolutely mind blowing. The whe thing was signed, Quasimodo was a shared role between a hearing and deaf actors and it was incredibly done. The cast learnt a lot of makaton. The whole production was spine-tingling. We were sat in side seats. The view of the woodwind section of the orchestra was brill and it meant we were right in with the cast too. The photo is her and Moll chatting to Nia and one of the put woodwind. Who kept trying to talk Katie into more instruments!
Added bonuses, mummy got to see my friends AND Katie got to collect the beautiful new clarinet that she has been incredibly generously gifted.
The journey home was much easier, which is good as I was on my last legs. But it was totally worth it.
