Fionn Loch Causeway

One of our aims for this holiday was to complete a run for the Vitual Great Wilderness Challenge. Because of Covid the actual events (which raise money for local charities) had to be cancelled for a second year so they decided to do a virtual event instead to help.
As we were to be in the area the original plan was for me to run the route, with Mr Rat accompanying me to Carnmore Lodge then returning for the car and me continuing alone. However the cloud has been low and the burns are quite high so we decided to do and out-and-back run on the bit I was to have done alone. This proved a wise move as the cloud remained low on the highest section, above where we got to, and one river was pretty high (we did a 1km detour on the way back to use the bridge) and there would have been 2 potentially awkward ones on the first part of the route.
We started in Poolewe and gradually ascended to the cliffs below the mountains and then dropped down to the Fionn (white) Loch and across the manmade causeway to the remote Carnmore Lodge (see extra), 11 miles in and no roads, possibly the most remote house in Britain. It was a farm, then a stalker's cottage (I think) and is now a holiday let. (They do transport you there by landrover and boat!)
Once there it was turn round and head back with a couple of variations, 22 miles if all on mainly stony path, bits of which had to be walked. We did meet 3 mountain bikers, 9 hillwalkers (and a few more walkers on the lowland bit near the end), 1 runner and 2 ponies being led up to the lodge - stalking season starts next week so I presume this was the reason. Mr Rat managed to get his foot sttod on by one of the ponies but fortunately no major damage was done.
Back at base the hot tub was extremely welcome.
Couldn't get this uploaded yesterday, so a backblip.
