On the buses.

Slight change of routine today.

Needed to pick up a few things in town today and drop some documents off on the way. The change of routine was that I decided to walk into town and not take the car.

It's not often that I walk into town, really not! And the biting wind blowing across the open road was colder than I expected it to be.
Where is Spring?!
Shouldn't it be springing by now?

With that in mind I decided I would be catching the bus back home and so here you see my shopping, travelling on a bus that had very few people on it, almost like a rather large taxi!

It's not often that I use public transport, although at £1.80 it's probably cheaper than me driving to and from town and paying the carpark fees. That's assuming that I have walked there.

Today I had two shopping bags with several more items in a rucksack on my back and walking from the rear of the bus to the front when it came to my stop was rather like being on a fairground ride.

The drivers' skills were interesting to say the least... with him thinking he could get through a gap between parked cars and oncoming traffic when it was already pretty clear to me that he wouldn't, which resulted in him slamming the brakes on, and shortly afterwards braking heavily whilst negotiating a bend. It's not easy to hold with two bags on shopping.

I very nearly said something to him as I waited for the bus to come to a halt. And now I'm writing this I wish I had done. The majority of people waiting in the bus station during the day seem to be older folk. I can only imagine that some of them must get bowled down the centre of the bus every couple of days or so by the occasional heavy footed bus driver.

How do they do it?
Have they developed circus skills?
Have they learnt how to roll well?!
Do they wear protective padding under their fleecy jackets?!
Who knew this was going to turn into (a rant) an observation of bus drivers' skills and public transport...?!!

I'll be quiet now.

For a little while.
Maybe.
