Water , water everywhere.....

But not a drop to drink !
First job this morning was to go up to the field and check the water tank. As expected it was empty.
More worryingly this collection chamber was empty too. The spring is meant to rise to about 2/3 of the way up the brickwork and feed into the storage tank. We have farmed here since 1949 and it has never dried up before. Presume the water table has lowered as there is hardly any water in the ditches or burns either. Bugger.
Managed to get water to the cows in one shed by using a garden hose and connecting onto a different supply as an emergency fix.
Headed off to open up another 35 acre field of silage. After lunch I nipped down the road to see if yesterday’s straw was fit to bale after last night’s rain. It wasn’t .
Back home then back onto the tractor and mower to finish this morning’s field.
