Oldest Pub ...

...in Todmorden.  Built around 1770 it was a coaching inn, where the publican was also receiver of mail and provided stabling and fresh horses and carriages to keep the mail on the road. It developed into Todmorden's first Post Office. Todmorden's first lending library opened here where books and newspapers would be shared among an increasingly educated population.
The property was badly damaged by flooding in Summer 2012. It remained closed until major refurbishment was carried out and re-opened in 2015.
It now publicises itself as 'the pub reimagined'. A  community hub providing not only beer, but has a highly restpected Thai Restaurant  and is a well known live music venue.
It has the byline -  “Ceci n’est pas une pub” -  “This is not a pub.”
