Bumbling on

I would say it was a cool summers day.. bit damp in the morning, bit windy in the early afternoon and still in the evening.  
I woke early and took a cup of tea outside first thing...I was struck by the silence.  Very few bird sounds, very few bees.  Eventually there was movement in the oak tree.. a passing squirrel with an itch ran along the branches and then left.  A green woodpecker  broke the silence with a loud shriek and some jackdaws went down the renovated house chimney with some food.. that was about all that happened in 45 minutes. It did feel a little strange. 
We went out to a pub for lunch.. treated by my aunt in law.. that was very special and a first in a long while. 
No need for supper tonight :)
