Freeze Frame
Hard PT sessions for me and Mrs C this morning resulted in a distinct air of lethargy for the rest of the day - not helped by a persistent drizzle for most of the afternoon.
In an effort to achieve something tangible we went up to the loft to see if there was anything else ripe for the decluttering process. Mrs C found some photography kit she no longer uses and will try and shift it via FB Sell & Seek. My contribution was half a dozen or so old pictures which had so much dust on them, it was obvious they had been up there for many years (before the alterations started). As such, I don’t think they stand any chance of going back on the walls once the works are completed, so time to go. The frames cleaned up ok so can go to the next car boot sale. And most of what was in the frames can be filed away - a couple in the filing cabinet, but mainly in the bin!
I did recycle two of the frames though. I replaced an award I won at college 35 years ago with the certificate for completing the 10K race earlier this month. I’d much rather look at a commemoration of something I’m proud to have achieved, than something which was pretty meaningless when it was awarded and even more so as the years went by.
The other one that made the cut was a picture I took forty odd years ago of Russell Brooks’ Sierra Cosworth on the Lombard RAC Rally. Just a random car in a random Welsh forest, but the significance is that it dates from the time when I was quite into my photography - a variety of lenses and black and white film being the order of the day. This particular photo was one of the few I actually developed and printed myself, before deciding that Boots and the like could do it better.
Funny how it’s all gone full circle now we’re in the digital age. I can edit any photo on my phone, change it to black and white if I want to and print it out wirelessly at the press of a button. Doesn’t quite have the same feeling of satisfaction as creating an image with film, chemicals and paper though.
