Engineer’s Bible

When I first went to sea in the mid sixties I very quickly learnt the ‘Engineer’s Bible’, in particular the section on ‘Laundry’,  and ‘Engine room socks’.

This tells you that at the end of the watch you screw up your socks and throw them at the bulkhead opposite in the changing room.  If they are still there at the start of the next watch you get a clean pair out.

This still seems to work today.

Well it is Saturday . . .

(and they are on the wall . . . )
