King's

The plan was that this would be a gap year. But then 2020 was so odd that Dan decided, belatedly, that he would go to university this coming September after all. To be honest, I think even he was surprised that he got a number of offers, despite missing the deadline for applications.

He was particularly delighted to receive one from King's College, London to read music and he also accepted Bristol as a back up.

He's a laid back character and has never really developed the tools for dealing with stress, so the approach of results day has been a little unnerving for him. There have, for example, been spontaneous conversations about how maybe Bristol would be a pretty cool place to go.

Today, the results came in. He needed AAB but got A*BB. It came out in the wash, though, and the little fella is off to King's College at the end of next month.

He was a lot more pleased than he looks in this photo, which was taken at Botanica, where we went for a celebratory breakfast.

Next job: accommodation!
