Saddness

It was a very sad day in Bakewell when we lost Bennetts a rather lovely high end department style store on King Street.
It's been replaced by Costa coffee a multiple that is prevalent in pretty much every town.
After a petition that garnered over 10,000 objections they're going ahead, a sad day as what I loved about Bakewell and one of the reasons we moved here was that it was reassuringly charming and different from other towns.
I know that the high street is changing, but what was always a lovely view up a very special part of our conservation area is now going to have the branding that is so common everywhere and detracts from the individuality of our wonderful town.
Oh Well, I guess we'll just have to suck it and see!
