Giant Polypore Fungus

Another gigantic mushroom, 2 or 3 feet across. My fungus friend tells me it is a Meripilus Giganteus (also kown as a Polyporus Giganteus). It's a saprophyte, it grows on dead wood, and is actually growing on the roots of the dead beech tree behind it. Apparently it is edible but can be a bit tough, younger ones less so.
