Crunchy

Neary at the end of the first two reports - I even managed to find time for a quick walk out along the river and back along the rowing Lake. Findin a male Goosander in eclipse plumage was a bit of a surprise (see extra), particularly one that seemed very time. But it was also surprising to watch a Greylag Goose crunching up the seedpods of Yellow Water-lily. They look rather tough and unappealing, but this goose was clearly enjoying its crunchy snack.,

I arrived home just in time to enjoy a meal cooked by Alex and Charley. The starter was ripe peach and bried wrapped in prosciutto and grilled, then served with balsamic glaze. Simple but very delicious... This was followed by a cheese and leek crostata served with split-pea soup. I'd have liked to settle down for a lazy evening, but instead drove out to the first face-to-face meeting of the Langdyke board.

We started off outside, but the heavy rain that we'd been watching in the distance eventually arrived, so we retreated into the Torpel cabin, with the door wide open to improve ventilation. I was really glad I went - it was so much more fun than the Zoom meetings of the past eighteen months, with lots of jovial banter. Hopefully we'll be able to have a mix of live and Zoom meetings as we move forward - sometimes it's good not to have to go out on a cold winter's evening!
