Altering the Flow

A lot of work is being done to the River Leven which flows through our town. There are other River Levens - this one is in Stokesley, North Yorkshire.

Part of the work is to change the flow of the river and to do this large logs have been put into the river. I think they are sycamore as the wood rots slowly and over time the enclosed areas will begin to be filled with silt etc and the actual flow of the river will be better. Just in front of the bridge you can see a small waterfall and the fish ladder which I blipped a few weeks ago (the fish ladder is new as well).
