Busy me and busy bee

I was out in the garden again today and noticed that the Snake's head fritillaries were flowering. Just as I focussed on the plant the bumble bee came into the frame.

Would a faster shutter speed have let me photograph the wings? I don't think my little camera is good enough for this kind of shot.
