In the midst of the roadworks
This old house looks forlorn amidst the mud of the roadworks creating the approach road to the new, second Forth Road bridge at North Queensferry. I spent a couple of hours wandering around NQ while L was meeting one of her fellow actors in Boston Marriage to discuss the play. Weather wasn't the best, with scattered rain/sleet/snow showers and a raw wind. Considering how close it is to the city I haven't been there that often, although L and I did have our evening wedding reception in Deep Sea World which was excellent. And did go to a party or two at the house in this picture, when a friend lived there during his time as flag lieutenant to the admiral. Apparently the admiral's house is listed and will be preserved, even although its driveway has been destroyed by the route of the new road. Not sure if this house, the former gatehouse, will stay or go, but is the fact that it is still there a positive sign that it will survive, or just because they haven't got round to demolishing it yet?
