Clean and green?
After a good nights sleep on the ferry, we were ready to disembark at 09.30. After a little wait at passport control, we were waived through to customs. A nice gentleman asked our purpose in visiting the Netherlands, we said to get through ASAP and back to Switzerland, then with a laugh we were through, no mention of Covid tests, certificates, self attestation, or quarantine forms we were told we had to fill in in England. We were off, weather not bad as we drove through miles and miles of refineries and chemical plants at Rotterdam Harbour.
First stop Breda for breakfast, at Beans and Bagels, absolutely delicious and lovely friendly staff. We still had 800 km to drive, so off we drove, crossing the border to Germany.
This blip is from one of the biggest open pit brown coal mines in Europe, attached to 2 smoky coal power stations. When are the Germans going to close these down? Whole villages are still disappearing to dig more of this environmentally damaging brown coal.
The journey went really well, with a couple of stops, we were back home by 20.00.
