Iceland day 8 - Landmannalaugar day 1

The first of our two days in the Landmannalaugar area. More gravel roads to drive on. On this road, there were soft bits with volcanic ashes and rocky bits with and without holes, as well as a few smaller river crossings. All in a day's work I guess! We stopped at a camping in the middle of the area, from where there are several hiking trails of which we followed one.

Landmannalaugar really is something special. Where I thought the previous days already provided alien landscapes, this particular region is alien on steroids. See for yourself in this image and the extras...
