Lonely Water
Walked the line from Granton Station to the five-ways junction at Trinity, we used to come this way from school walking home along the trackbed.
The railway embankments at Trinity used to rub up against gardens of big houses long since gone. Replaced with executive housing with names like Lillipot whose gardens have Yale locked, spike topped gates.
I'm glad to say that the coming of the railway walkway hasn't lessened the wilderness feel. Bayous, ditches and fetid streams a crazed interior impenetrable to anyone not toting a machete but with the occasional lost ball testifying that faithful Fido finds a way.
These were the kind of places that we were told as kids to stay away from.
A "bad man" would get us.
Scary public information films.
Dangers of railways, pylons, ponds and old fridges.
Well kent trusted faces like Jimmy Savile.
