UN Day of Happiness

Cold start today - stood on a picket line with good, hard-working people in my union. I thought it was hard to get out of bed yesterday but that was easy compared to today. It wasn't the picket line that I found daunting - it feels like my responsibility to take part in a strike I voted for rather than just sleep in - it was the cold. And it was cold this morning although a lot better and drier than yesterday, for which I am grateful.

Strikes stir up a lot of emotion and everyone's entitled to their opinion. I accept that wholeheartedly. But I will not accept what the ConDemned Government is doing to this country and I will fight them every way I can because that is my right and duty as a citizen. Right, that's that.

Despite my disagreements with the Government, I see no reason to be disagreeable. I feel there is no place for rudeness or unkindness in a strike situation. I can almost imagine my mother being pleased that these lessons have finally sunk in.

And today is the first ever United Nations Day of Happiness! It's our job to spread a little happiness. So with that in mind, I present to you a friend, co-worker and honorary Canadian. This lovely woman spreads joy, love and happiness wherever she goes. Just look at that gorgeous smile - how can one resist smiling back?

I would like to thank her for her lovely presence and for her patience in my clumsy portrait-taking ability. Note to self: try to take more portraits. It can be fun!

Off to see Spirit of '45 as an apt end to the day.

Happy Day of Happiness!
