Christmas colors in August

These little red flowers are called strawberry amaranth, if I remember right. I think they’re really pretty, and they dry nicely, like straw flowers.

W. and I dropped I. off at her next-to-last (!) cello lesson and walked the 4-5 miles home, partly on the bike path through a tunnel of trees. It was baking out today and still super humid well after sundown. The trail was nicely dark, crisscrossed with occasional spiderwebs, and loud with crickets and tree frogs and cicadas. A challenging walk with the hill at the end. Felt great to get back into the AC.

Baked a blueberry cake today which was quite good (Canadian blueberry pudding), and enjoyed the big batch of salsa W. made.
