Gull Walk

This Black-headed gull is in its breeding plumage (according to the RSPB website). I managed to get level with it and down low enough to shoot along the wooden groyne. They are not really a black-headed bird, more chocolate-brown - in fact, for much of the year, it has a white head. They are found commonly almost anywhere inland not just by the sea. Black-headed gulls are sociable, quarrelsome, noisy birds, usually seen in small groups or flocks, often gathering into larger parties where there is plenty of food

Rosie and I went to Lepe to take some photos. Fabulous morning with loads of birds we saw turnstones, oyster catchers, some geese we didn't recognise, herring gull and others we could not identify.

We had tea and fed a chaffinch that didn't seem to mind getting fairly close for a few crumbs. I very nearly posted a shot of it but in the end I like the perspective in this one.
