Chigborough Lakes Nature Reserve

I was up and out early in the rain with the intention of visiting West Mersea before going to see my parents who live reasonably nearby. Having got half the way there I get a message saying they had to cancel. Undeterred I looked at the map and decided to go somewhere I’d never been before, which ended up being a little nature reserve just outside Maldon. It was wet and mosquito infested and I won’t be going there again! Fortunately I disturbed a heron in my wanderings and, despite the dubious quality, it provided the only blip worthy photos of the morning.
