Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain
Yesterday evening it started raining. It poured down all night, filling all our water butts and then overflowing. It eased off a little in the morning, which was good for our guests as they packed their car and left for a sunnier south of Sweden. Then the skies opened again for another 6 hours of downpour.
However, we can't complain after weeks and weeks of sun and that old phrase "The garden needs it" was never more true. A lot of birch trees, growing where there isn't much soil, have given up for this year and dropped their leaves. Those growing in slightly better places will be very happy as their roots can once more exchange nutrients and energy with their leaves.
The picture is of our nearest rowan tree and the leaves have grown so heavy with rain drops that they have "capsized" and are showing their pale undersides to the world. I'm sure they will reclaim their equilibrium as they dry up tonight. Yes, the rain finally did stop, though it returns tomorrow.
