Anxious

When I went to bed last night I thought the trip to Canada on Monday was definitely off.  The border folk said they would strike on the 6th if no agreement that has been going on for 3 years had been reached.   They want respect, more money (like the RCMPs?) and to be able to carry guns.     The border was only open to essential trade but the wait times were horrendous , like 5 hours to get across the border in Detroit and Buffalo.   No way would we be doing anything like that.    BUT…on waking this AM and reading Nanzy19’s blip comment it was clear it had been resolved late in the day.    A tentative pay raise, but not a lot… Hurray! It was more normal today.   So now we had to rethink and actually got out the backpacks to pack up.  We will take the grandsons with us….even tho one doesn’t have a passport. (the dog ate it) but his nexus pass is good.  and the other’s nexus pass (prescreened, short line) is expired.  Nexus is giving everyone 24 extra months due to covid.     I managed to get  a receipt out of the ArriveCAN app and a printout  of our negative covid tests.   It still is anxiety producing.   There are many little parts could go wrong.   It could still be a huge backup.  (it wouldn’t have done this to me if I was 40…but 80??  what’s going on?) 

Sp we needed to decompress.  First I spent a lot of time just watching , mesmerized , the swallows swoop over the front lawn.   :-)  extra Then we went to play with Cocoa Bean and talk to Eric and Anne .   Anne just finished  with the first round of chemo 4x….doing OK.    Eric will come up later in the week and pick up the boys, who of course want to be home before NIk;s college starts in August… if E manages to work the ArriveCAN app.  (He will)   Our next door neighbor will go to Canada 4 days after us  came over to get his final instructions what to do and how to do it.

And now to watch the US Women’s Basketball at the Oympics.      2 more sleeps…we'd just like to get to go to our cabin.....not easy
