Goodbye Old Friend

A sorry sight this morning. We've watched this beautiful acer grow over 20 years from a sapling. Too close to the house it's been given the chop due to problems with the drains..I was seriously tempted to do a .'Swampy' and save it. Every autumn it would cast the most amazing glow across the road when the sun was on it.
I'm hoping they'll replace it with something appropriate.
