From one extreme
To another.
A black tie evening at The Dorchester.
Husbands lovely client invited us to his black tie fundraising event which supports liver disease in children which sadly they lost their son to. Quite heartbreaking such strong people. Very proud to be in their company.
130,000 raised on the night - we bought a signed Dorchester chefs jacket after being outbid on everything else we selected in the silent auction.
We had a high profile chefs on our table who rotated to other tables between each course. Each course was prepared by Michelin starred chefs who donated their skills for the evening. Highly interesting to chat to them and the difference between their professionalism and class varied immensely. All had egos - I do believe you need them to succeed (in anything) but wow some really took their celebrity quite seriously. Some big name dropping occurring and in house jealousy - the true professionals really were just that. A nod to our hosts for their modesty that head chef of The Dorchester greeted with great affection nanny sat on our table. It was her first event since losing husband and she was feeling a little lost without him she was so pleased to chat to cheeky chef as she does like to chat about husband and chef remembers him well. His memory is very much alive to her.
A brilliantly organised class event glad to be part of it and hopefully played a small part in another family being spared such grief there is now a 95% success rate in saving a child's life thanks to evenings such as this a vast increase from the 35% survival rate 10 years ago.
I will not vulgarise the bid made by our host (he can certainly afford it) by stating it on here I know it was made in memory of his boy so that no one else had to feel the same.
Such beautiful people. As they say...What a difference a day makes
