Sunflower

Started from seed and transplanted twice, our dozen or so sunflowers are doing well. Gratifying, especially since our garden soil dries out so quickly. A strange summer, for sure. I check the weather reports with dread, the numbers for the next heat wave keep inching up. Now next Thursday is to be 105, but just a couple of days ago it was only to be 100. More and more I want to find ways to use less and less water. 
I didn't leave the yard once all day; I like staying put, but then spent a chunk of time looking for a place to stay at the beach next week during the high heat. Found something in Lincoln City that didn't entirely break the bank; it means lots of driving though. But it's our anniversary on Thursday, so off we'll go.
