Alexandra Canal

A late 19th century waterway constructed to enable shipping from Botany Bay to industrial suburbs to the north, never a success and abandoned in the 1930s. Despite plans, it’s not been redeveloped - although foot- and cycle paths appeared recently. It will be a while before there’s housing and canalside bars and restaurants (extra).
