Our last beach, for this time.
We’d a cooked breakfast today. No porridge this morning. A very rare event!
Two beaches in the morning at Balranald RSPB Reserve in North Uist (extra photo). And a dead cetacean, quite some sight (extra photo). (Update on 9 August after I made inquiries…..“Scottish Marine Stranding Scheme at University of Glasgow. We do know about this animal, it’s a baleen whale, likely a minke and was first reported to us on the 20th of June”).
My new Christmas fleece got its first outing. Cool winds.
We spent the afternoon in Berneray. A bit of seal spotting, they were basking on the rocks, (some good photos taken; younger brother used as an improvised tripod…. (extra photo)).
Today’s main photo is of the beach at Berneray looking towards Harris. Outstanding. I’ve also included an extra photo - first sighting when parked.
We returned to the house to watch the second game of British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa. Lions were outclassed by the hosts; the decider is next Saturday.
In the evening we went to a beach you can see from the bedrooms. Dusk, big sky, lovely soft light. And on the horizon was St Kilda.
Another log fire in the house finished off the day. And our stay in the Outer Hebrides.
