Hoverfly on Jerusalem Artichoke Flower.
Seem to have gone mad on bugs at the moment. The allotment site has so many of these artichoke flowers - some of them may be cardoons - not sure what is the definitive difference except cardoons are smaller and rangier in growing habit. I don't think many people eat them and not once they have flowered. Today's light conditions were perfect to photograph them as long as you wait for a light cloud to cross the sun. Their colour is so intense that camera sensors don't seem to like it - bit like bright reds and vivid pinks.
A couple of extras for Flower Friday - that was the colour of the sky behind the hollyhock which heralded a very short shower - time to go home.
