Sparrowhawk
It won’t be long before the last of the Olympians will be doing their thing so I took the opportunity to spend most of the morning watching the cycling and the afternoon watching the athletics. It was well worth doing nothing for with 7 medals today.
Whilst the cycling was on, this sparrowhawk dropped into the garden and sat under the bird feeders for a short while. Unusually I did not have a camera within reach, but my husband crept behind me to get one but of course it had flown off by then! But I caught up with it on our neighbours roof, so it’s at full zoom and cropped. Not the best photo I’ve ever taken but I haven’t seen one for a while.
Anyway, back to the Olympics - overnight we won the bronze medal match in the women’s hockey.
Katie Archibald and Laura Kenny completely bossed the Madison event in the cycling, winning 10/12 sprints and taking a lap as well to end up with more than double the points of the next closest team, Denmark. This gives Laura her FIFTH gold medal in her third Olympics making her the most decorated female Olympian ever, joining her husband with the same men’s accolade. She is just AMAZING!!!
Soon after Jack Carlin took bronze in the sprint, another super performance. Between the cycling and athletics, we also got the gold in the women’s modern pentathlon, a brilliant laser run by Kate French.
Then on to the athletics and I was SO pleased for Laura Muir getting the silver in the 1500m and then bronze and silver in the women’s and men’s 4x100m relays just finished off the action nicely. Phew! What a great day!
Number of GB medals today = 2G, 2S, 3B
Cumulative Medals = 18G, 20S, 20B (up to 4th in the medal table)
